[cobalt-developers] building and installing Crypt-SSLeay-0.061

I *think* I finally got SSLeay-0.9.0b installed with your help- removing the assembly switches seemed to help. How can I check the install? I ran a buch of tests in the test dir and they all passed, but for all I know its runing some previous version of SSLeay.

Anyhow, I moved into installing Crypt-SSLeay-0.061 which should add the perl modules for ssl. Some oddities:

(1) the Makefile.PL script is looking for: $SSL_DIR/include/ssl.h but on the RaQ, locate ssl/h says it's in $SSL_DIR/include/openssl/ssl.h instead. So I doctored up the Makefile to look in

$SSL_DIR/include/openssl/ssl.h

everywhere instead. That seemed to fix the Makefile- it runs without errors now. Unfortunately the build dies:

/usr/include/openssl/des.h:96: #error "_ is defined, but some strange definition the DES library cannot handle that."
/usr/include/openssl/des.h:98: warning: `_' redefined
/usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux/CORE/config.h:1149: warning: this is the location of the previous definition
make: *** [SSLeay.o] Error 1

Any idea of what I need to doctor up now? Isn;t there a good ole rpm for this stuff!? Ack..

Thanks.
Perlgirl
