Re: [cobalt-developers] restoring from qube2 backup

hi,

At 17.03.00 14:51, you wrote:
1. I have a 7 meg .qub file I'm trying to restore on a windows machine.
2. I tried the perl script on it, and it didn't work - it left a 504 byte
output.tar.gz and exited with no message.

that's just what it should do - strip all headers, and leave an out.tar.gz that you can unpack with tar -xzvf.

3. I tried stripping off the header in a copy of the pfe32 editor - but
winzip didn't like the resulting .tar.gz file.

hmmm... normally it works fine that way. maybe your ftp-client guessed that the .qub file is an ascii-file because its first lines are text (it isn't, choose "binary" manually). or there is the same problem like on older raq2/3 (the box transferred the backup archive in ascii mode in some cases). or the download is just broken. or pfe32 saved the file in ascii mode. or... many possibilities. as i said, normally it works fine. maybe you can try to unpack it directly with gunzip instead of using winzip?

regards, jonas.
