I don't believe it is just a kernel issue. I believe it is a firmware
issue as well as a driver issue.

Are you passing through a firewall? When it "refuses" your connection:
a) can you ping it?
b) does it ever recover, and allow a connection?
c) can you get the web UI on it?
d) how do you get reconnected?
e) what version of kernel is on there (rpm -qa | grep kernel)
